*listen to this part, and you'll know what im trying to say*
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
Chorus:
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
Verse 2:
I wear my crown of shit
on my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
beneath the stain of time
the feeling disappears
you are someone else
I am still right here
Chorus:
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
Bridge:
if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Randomguide to wrong information: "Hurt" is a promotional single from Nine Inch Nails' 1994 album The Downward Spiral. "Hurt" is often hailed as one of Trent Reznor's best, most introspective pieces of songwriting.
In 2002, "Hurt" was covered by Johnny Cash to great critical acclaim; it was Cash's final hit before his death. Its accompanying video, featuring images from Cash's life up to his final months, was named the best video of the year by the Grammy Awards and Country Music Awards. Cash's video was directed by Mark Romanek.

rezzer, please don't make corrections that aren't correct. There is nothing played up in the fifth fret. The correct chord is a Dsus2 and Cash plays the song with a hammer so the Dsus2 becomes a normal D chord...
