Judy Collins - King David

CAPO: 2nd Fret

[Intro]
Dm

[Verse 1]
                           Am
King David was a sorrowful man
Dm Am
No cause for his sorrow had he
                      Dm F
And he called for the music of a hundred harps
   Dm Am Dm Am Dm
To ease his melancholy

[Verse 2]
                               Am
They played till they all fell silent
Dm Am
Played and play sweet did they
                    Dm F
But the sorrow that haunted the heart of King David
     Dm Am Dm Am Dm
They could not charm away

[Verse 3]
                   Am
He rose and in his garden
Dm Am
Walked by the moon alone
              Dm F
A nightingale hidden in a cypress tree
Dm Am Dm Am Dm
Jargoned on and on

[Verse 4]
                      Am
King David lifted his sad eyes
Dm Am
Into the dark-boughed tree
               Dm F
"Tell me, thou little bird that singest
    Dm Am Dm Am Dm
Who taught my grief to thee?"

[Verse 5]
                        Am
But the bird in no-wise heeded
        Dm Am
And the king in the cool of the moon
                 Dm F
Hearkened to the nightingale's sorrowfulness
     Dm Am Dm Am Dm
Till all his own was gone

very familiar with this haunting song. as I played it though I am finding some C and F on the second verse. still working on the 3 lol. try this and see though for some more complexity.
