The D in the verse should probably be a Dadd4 over F#m; this may sounds complex but basicly you just have lower the G to a Gb (F#) on the 6th string (low E-string) and add a D-note on the second (B) string. You leave your pinky where it is (third fret 1st (E) string. The other strings, A D and G just ring open. Simple as that!
