                             Laura Veirs - Galaxies
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Dan Foy
Tuning: Standard

At time of writing the other tabs on the site are in chord notation with the
progression Am C G F, but in the recorded version the chords all sound minor
to my ear. I actually think the above version sounds better played by itself,
but it sounds wrong when you play along to the album version IMHO.

Main theme (played through entire song):
      A5 C5 G5 F5
e|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|-------------------|
B|-----------------|-------------------|-----------------|-------------------|
G|o----------------|-------------------|-----------------|------------------o|
D|o---7---7-7-x----|----10--10-10-x----|----5---5-5-x----|----3---3-3-x-----o|
A|----7---7-7-x----|----10--10-10-x----|----5---5-5-x----|----3---3-3-x------|
E|----5---5-5-x----|----8---8--8--x----|----3---3-3-x----|----1---1-1-x------|
          x x x x x x x x

As the song progresses the main theme incorporates more of the higher strings
during the muted bit in each bar:
      A5 Am C5 Cm G5 Gm F5 Fm
e|--------5-5-x----|--------8--8--x----|--------3-3-x----|--------1-1-x------|
B|--------5-5-x----|--------8--8--x----|--------3-3-x----|--------1-1-x------|
G|o-------5-5-x----|--------8--8--x----|--------3-3-x----|--------1-1-x-----o|
D|o---7---7-7-x----|----10--10-10-x----|----5---5-5-x----|----3---3-3-x-----o|
A|----7---7-7-x----|----10--10-10-x----|----5---5-5-x----|----3---3-3-x------|
E|----5---5-5-x----|----8---8--8--x----|----3---3-3-x----|----1---1-1-x------|
          x x x x x x x x

She uses a different C chord live:
      A5 Am C5 C G5 Gm F5 Fm
e|--------5-5-x----|---------3-3--x----|--------3-3-x----|--------1-1-x------|
B|--------5-5-x----|---------5-5--x----|--------3-3-x----|--------1-1-x------|
G|o-------5-5-x----|---------5-5--x----|--------3-3-x----|--------1-1-x-----o|
D|o---7---7-7-x----|-----3---5-5--x----|----5---5-5-x----|----3---3-3-x-----o|
A|----7---7-7-x----|-----3---3-3--x----|----5---5-5-x----|----3---3-3-x------|
E|----5---5-5-x----|-------------------|----3---3-3-x----|----1---1-1-x------|
          x x x x x x x x

Alternatively if you think the Am-C-G-F version sounds better, but you're
having trouble controlling distortion using open chords, you can play them
all as bar chords by substituting the Em for Emaj bar shape for the last
three chords, like this:
      A5 Am C5 C G5 G F5 F
e|--------5-5-x----|--------8--8--x----|--------3-3-x----|--------1-1-x------|
B|--------5-5-x----|--------8--8--x----|--------3-3-x----|--------1-1-x------|
G|o-------5-5-x----|--------9--9--x----|--------4-4-x----|--------2-2-x-----o|
D|o---7---7-7-x----|----10--10-10-x----|----5---5-5-x----|----3---3-3-x-----o|
A|----7---7-7-x----|----10--10-10-x----|----5---5-5-x----|----3---3-3-x------|
E|----5---5-5-x----|----8---8--8--x----|----3---3-3-x----|----1---1-1-x------|
          x x x x x x x x

I didn't know about Laura Veirs until I heard this track over the credits to
the Coherence. It's always great when you find amazing music that you wouldn't
usually stumble across. I've been playing for a while but this is only my
second tab, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Lyrics:

When you sing, when you sing
The stars fill up my eyes
Galaxies pour down my cheeks
Galaxies...they flood the street
Galaxies

When we dance, when we dance
Eels and sea grass float on by
I'm 10, 000 leagues beneath the sea
10, 000 leagues...beneath the green
10, 000 leagues

When we kiss, when we kiss
Bears and boulders vibrate through the air
Gravity is dead you see
No gravity...all I need is beating red
No gravity...
