This is the song in normal E tuning with no capo, also with some changes throughout,
of the existing tabs lined up properly but try this and see how it goes, if played along
the cd nothing clashes or sounds wrong. im pretty sure its right

[NOTES]
Palm mute strum the top 3 strings only for the verse and the 'holding on' part of the chorus

[Verse 1]
E G#m E G#m
The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
E G#m F#sus4 F#
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
E G#m E G#m
I am here still waiting though I still have my doubts
E G#m F#sus4 F#
I am damaged at best, like you've already figured out

[Chorus]
               B F#sus4 F#
I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
               G#m F#sus4 F#
With a broken heart that's still beating
        B F#sus4 F#
In the pain there is healing
         G#m F#sus4 F#
In your name I find meaning
               E G#m E G#m
      G#m
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
         F#sus4 F#
I'm barely holdin' on to you

[Verse 2]
E G#m E G#m
The broken locks were a warning you got inside my head
E G#m F#sus4 F#
I tried my best to be guarded, I'm an open book instead
E G#m E G#m
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
E G#m F#sus4 F#
That are looking for purpose, they're still looking for life

[Chorus]
B F#sus4 F#
I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
               G#m F#sus4 F#
With a broken heart that's still beating
        B F#sus4 F#
In the pain is there healing
         G#m F#sus4 F#
In your name I find meaning
               E G#m E G#m
      G#m
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
         F#sus4 F#
I'm barely holdin' on to you

[Bridge]
            B G#m E F#
I'm hanging on another day just to see what you will throw my way
                B G#m
And I'm hanging on to the words you say
          E F#
You said that I will be ok

[Middle 8]
    E G#m E G#m
The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone
   E G#m F#sus4 F#
I may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home

[Chorus]
B F#sus4 F#
I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
               G#m F#sus4 F#
With a broken heart that's still beating
        B F#sus4 F#
In the pain is there healing
         G#m F#sus4 F#
In your name I find meaning

               E G#m E G#m G#m
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
         F#sus4 F#
I'm barely holdin' on to you

E G#m
I'm holdin' on

E G#m
I'm holdin' on
F#sus4 F#
I'm barely holdin' on to you

I don't think that the E chord is right; the B sounds better. If you use the E chord, then only play the first three (lower) strings.
