# Lou Reed: Caroline Says II
###########################################

# NOTES:
within the verse lines Lou Reed appears to play a standard Bm chord
between C and Am; I prefer playing this as an Cmaj7/E, i.e. Em with
an additional first fret on the B string

INTRO:
C Bm Am G (2x)

VERSE:
C Cmaj7/E Am F (G)
   Caroline says,

C Cmaj7/E Am F (G)
As she gets up off the floor

C Em Am Em Am
Why is it that you beat me,

D G
  It isn't any fun

C Cmaj7/E Am F (G)
   Caroline says,

C Cmaj7/E Am F (G)
As she makes up her eye

C Em Am Em Am
You've ought to learn more about your-self,

D G
  Think more than just I

CHORUS:
    C F G
But she's not a-fraid to die

C F G
All of her friends call her Alaska

C F
When she takes speed, they laugh and ask her

C F C G
What is in her mind

C F C G
What is in her mind

VERSE:
C Cmaj7/E Am F (G)
   Caroline says,

C Cmaj7/E Am F (G)
As she gets up from the floor

C Em Am Em Am
You can hit me all you want to,

D G
  But I don't love you any-more

C Cmaj7/E Am F (G)
   Caroline says,

C Cmaj7/E Am F (G)
  While biting her lip

C Em Am Em Am
Life is meant to be more than this,

D G
And this is a bum trip

CHORUS:
    C F G
But she's not a-fraid to die

C F G
All of her friends call her Alaska

C F
When she takes speed, they laugh and ask her

C F C G
What is in her mind

C F C G
What is in her mind

BRIDGE:
Dm G C F C
She put her fist through the window pane

Dm G
It was such a funny feeling

CHORUS 2:
C F G
   It's so cold in Alaska

C F G
   It's so cold in Alaska

C F G
   It's so cold in Alaska

OUTRO:
C Bm Am G
C

One ought to strive to write the tabs as objectively as possible, and not to write what they think sounds nice, to them. Transcribing a song is not like cooking a piece of fish in that respect; the former is a closed concept, while the latter is not.

Maybe you're right. But with songs that originally are recorded by a band or orchestra you'll always have to compromise when tabbing for a single instrument. So I'm trying to get closer to the overall feel of the song
