Swamp Music -- by Lynyrd Skynyrd

I figured out the lyrics and chords very quickly on this. The basics of
the song sound simple and can be played effectively with an acoustic.
The rockin' electric jams are another story however!! Any corrections or
flames email me at poteat@uncecs.edu

Chords: E-A-B7

      E
Goin' down to the swamp, goin watch me a hound dog catch a coon.
	      A E
Well I'm goin down to the swamp, goin to watch a hound dog catch a coon.
	    B7 A
Ya know the hound dog makin music, on a summer night by the light of the
E
moon.
       E
Ohhh, fetch my cane pole mamma, goin catch a bream or maybe two.
      A E
Lord, fetch my cane pole mamma, goin catch a bream or maybe two.
	 B7 E
When the hound dogs start barkin', sound like ol'?? singin' the blues.

chorus:
Swamp, Swamp, Swamp, Swamp music
Swamp, swamp, swamp, swamp music
B7 A E
When the hound dog starts singin', I ain't got them big ol' city blues.

solo

Go ahead pretty mamma, just take that city hike.
Said, go'ahead pretty mamma, just take your city hike.
Well, I'd rather live with the hound dogs for the rest of my natural born
life.

chorus, but add this in the last 2 verses instead:

Well, I'd rather live with the hound dogs, for the rest of my natural born
life.
Well I want to live with the hound dogs, for the rest of my natural born
life.

Thanks Jerry, Just got done writing that same thing and looked up and read yours. by the way Is evey one aware That Son House true love was whiskey and that he ended up giving up music entirely, and working as a porter on a train in N.Y. for drinkin money, died broke ,drunk, and wothless. He who along with Bukka White made slide guitar what it is today. AA yo slides payas outdere owes a big debt to those two fine ole men who tought Howlin Wolf to play slide. In fact Wolf was at one time so close to House that he brought him back to tour after 20 some years, but became so enraged by house's alchoholism that he booted hi m right in the middle of a documentary, which I have and house coudn,t even hold up his guitar. IS THERE A LESSON THERE? tHANKS AGAIN YA'LL ole Pigfeets gonna keep on slidin yo dese little nuggets about your roots ofF an again. DON GET ABOVE YORE RAISIN HOTSHOTS.
Respectfully yours,
THE RIGHT REVEREND BLIND MISSISSIPPI WHITE BOY PIGFEETS DUPREE

al wilson actually found ed "son" house working in a coffee shop in buffalo,ny. he died drunk true but far from worthless. you should be shunned for even saying that! and by the way, he also taught robert johnson and all the real old boys too. anyhow, most of the old bluesmen died drunk and broke, but homage must be payed. without them music would still be traditional european classical music. so give respect and keep emulating these guys. thanks
