Chinese Translation by M. Ward
---------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Ethan Starkey
tuning: DADF#BD
This is an improvement on the previous tab.
I left the original D chord from the tab i copied this from because this is
based off a live video [although i think D2 sounds correct, at least as the
begining chord of the chorus, and is the one M. Ward plays in the video, but
its a little difficult to hear so...]
VERSE
--(0)-0-----(0)-(0)--0---|
---0--0------0---0---2---|
---0--3------1---3---1---|
---4--4------2---4---2---|
---5--0------2---0---0---|
---0--0------2---0-------|
*D *D2 Em D A

CHORUS: A (easy version)
--(0)-(5)--(5)--(5)--5--(0)--2---5-----0--|
---0---5----7----5---5---0---1---5--3--2--|
---3---5----5----5---5---3---x---5--4--1--|
---4---5----5----7---5---4---2---5--5--2--|
---0---5----5----5---5---0---0---5--5--0--|
---0---5----5----5---5---0-------5--------|
D2 G1 G2 G3 G4 D2 D7 G Gm A
(barred w/index finger)
CHORUS: A
--(0)-(5)--(5)--(5)--5--(0)--0--5-----0--|
---0---5----7----5---5---0---2--5--3--2--|
---3---5----5----5---5---3---1--5--4--1--|
---4---5----5----7---5---4---2--5--5--2--|
---0---x----x----x---x---0---0--x--5--0--|
---0---5----5----5---5---0------5--------|
D2 G1 G2 G3 G4 D2 A G Gm A
(thumb and index instead of barring it)
G1 is w/thumb on the lowest string and barre the rest w/index finger to more easily switch to G2,
G3, and G4 whilst leaving less room for error with overtones when you just barre the whole fret with
just your index finger (although i do it because of the additions i make w/my ring and pinky fingers
after the 2nd chorus)
BRIDGE
--(0)--0---0-----0---------------(0)--------|
---0---0---0-----0------2---------0---2-----|

---0---2---4-----5------0---------2---0-----|
---0---2---4-----5----------------2---------|
D2 Em B *G5 A G A
*I use G5 to make it easier and add difference, choose any
G variation you like
**this part is yours to play around with in whatever variation(s) of D & G,
Its just little "noodlings" in D & G until the end
this is some insight to what he does after the first 8 bars of this part

Verse:
D2
I sailed the wild, wild seas
Em
Climbed up a tall, tall mountain
D2 A
I met an old, old man he sat beneath a willow tree
D2
He said now if you got some questions
Em D2
Go and lay them at my feet. But my time here is breif
A
So you'll have to pick just three, and i said
Chorus:
D2 G1 G2
What do you do with the pieces of a broken heart
G3 G4 D2
And how does a man like me remain in the light
D7 G
if life is really as short as they say then why
Gm A
is the night so long? Then the sun went down and he
D2 (hold on D2 here for an extra 2 bars)
sang for me this song
Pre-verse:
D2 Em
See I once was a young fool like you
B *G5
afraid to do the things that I knew I had to do
A
So I played an escapade just like you
Em A
I played an escapade just like you
Verse:
D2
I sailed the wild, wild seas
Em
Climbed up a tall, tall mountain
D2 A
I met an old, old man he sat beneath the sapling tree
Then the sun went down and he
D2 (hold on D2 here for an extra 2 bars)
sang for me this song
then the SOLO SECTION, END
Thats about it. Do the intro/outro if you want, but you'll have to make up something because it sounds
like he uses at least 2 guitars for the intro on the studio version. People taking the easy route may
just want to use the harmonics on the 12th fret (its easy and people eat that shit up.)
