Capo 1st Fret

The studio version is in Eb, so with the capo on the chords are equivalent. It sounds
with the chords played open or at the 6th fret (Ebmaj7) or 8th fret (Fm7).

Dmaj7 = Ebmaj7
Em7 = Fm7
G = Ab
F#m7 = Gm7
A7 = Bb7

[Verse 1]

         Dmaj7                                           Em7
Well sometimes I go out by myself and I look across the water
       Dmaj7
And I think of all the things,
                                           Em7
What you're doing and in my head I make a picture

[Chorus]

      G                                      F#m7
Cos since I've come on home, well my body's been a mess
           G                       F#m7
And I've missed your ginger hair and the way you like to dress
           G              F#m7                          A7
Won't you come on over stop making a fool out of me
                            Dmaj7     Em7
Why won't you come on over Valerie? Valerie?

[Verse 2]

Dmaj7
Did you have to go to jail, put your house up for sale,
                        Em7
Did you get a good lawyer?
Dmaj7
I hope you didn't catch a tan
                                        Em7
I hope you find the right man who'll fix it up for ya
Dmaj7
Are you shoppin' anywhere,
                                       Em7
Changed the colour of your hair, are you busy?
Dmaj7
And did you have to pay the fine
                                         Em7
you were dodging all the time, are you still dizzy

[Chorus]

      G                                      F#m7
Cos since I've come on home, well my body's been a mess
           G                       F#m7
And I've missed your ginger hair and the way you like to dress
           G              F#m7                          A7
Won't you come on over stop making a fool out of me
                            Dmaj7     Em7
Why won't you come on over Valerie? Valerie?

Nice version! But I, too, think the G7 does not sound good. I'd suggest a Gmaj7 (3-x-4-4-3-x) instead which fits the jazzy mood of this arrangement perfectly.

Nice chords mate, but i think it would sound better with a regular G chord played up in the fretboard (x1012121210)and the same with the A chord (i think it´s not A7)(x1214141412)
