Verse Riff 1
I woke up from a dream I could've sworn I heard the phone
Verse Riff 2 A/D
Fan's blowing in the corner like it does when she's at home
Verse Riff 1
Familiar desperate feeling always cold and dark inside
Verse Riff 2 A/D
I'll probably sit here hoping soon that she'll be by my side.

B E
Yeah, I saw her smile that chased the blues away,
B
Her warmth will make it all okay
       A/D
'cause it's one to go and one to stay,
B
I guess it has to be that way
E B
I found my kindred spirit, now she's with me as I sleep
A/D B Intro riff
and it's in her hands, up to her where she'll put my soul to keep.

Intro riff

Riff 1
Out there in the hard world trying to blend into the day
Riff 2 A/D
A thousand different faces stare I try to look away well
Riff 1
I can feel her move within me and her voice is in my head
Riff 2 A/D
and with that in mind I seem to find a way back home again

B E
Yeah, I saw her smile that chased the blues away,
B
Her warmth will make it all okay
        A/D
'cause it's one to go and one to stay,
B
I guess it has to be that way
E B
I found my kindred spirit, now she's with me as I sleep
A/D B Intro riff
and it's in her hands, up to her where she'll put my soul to keep.

my soul to keep yeah

Intro Riff
soul to keep yeah

Soul to keep my soul to keep

You, sir, are correct. This was a 7 Seconds song for sure.

Is the verse really just the A/D chord all the way through with different strumming patterns??

It's not A/D all the way through. You play the different riffs in addition to the A/D chord.
