He capos the 2nd fret. So the A is actually (G). E is (D) and Bm is (Am). Try it like that and it sounds just like the recording.

I make the A the standard way xo222o (low to high) the Bm I make slightly differantly x24x3x I hope that helped

For the solo part, it should all be played between the 7th and 10th frets (I watched a live video of them playing in 1994 and that's how it's played).
Basically, change the 2's and 4's on the e and g strings to 7's and 9's on the b and D strings, and change the 3's and 5's from the b string to 7's and 9's on the g string.
It's much easier to play that way.
