Poor Jenny:Paul Jones.
Released on COLUMBIA Records in 1967 and
didn't chart.
(Cover of Everly Brothers hit of 1959,
which I think is far superior. It hit #14
in UK and #22 on BB Hot 100. There was
another version by the Everly Brothers
recorded on CADENCE in 1957 but it wasn't
released. The '59 version is much faster
 and sounds waaay better.)

INTRO: Bb F

#1.
Bb Gm Gb
Took my little Jenny to a party last night, at ten o'clock
              Ebm
it ended in a heck of a fight.
     B Bb Gm7 C F
When someone hit my Jenny she went out like a light, Poor Jenny.
    Bb Gm7
And then some joker went and called the cops on the phone,
   Gb Eb Ebm
so everybody scattered out for places unknown.
  B Bbm Gm7 C F Bb
I couldn't carry Jenny so I left her alone....Poor Jenny.

BRIDGE:
                    Ab Bb Ab Eb
Well, Jenny had her picture in the paper this mornin', she made

it with a bang.
C Bb C Bb F
According to the story in the paper this morning, Jenny is the

leader of a teenage gang.

CHORUS:
Bb Gm7 Gb
Jenny has a brother and he's hot on my trail, her daddy wants
                  Ebm
to ride me out of town on a rail.
  B Bb Gm7 C F Bb
I hope I'll be around when Jenny gets out of jail....Poor Jenny.

#2.
  Bb Gm7 Gb
I went downtown to see her, she was locked in a cell, she wasn't
                     Ebm
very glad to see me, that I could tell.
   B Bb Gm7 C F
In fact, to tell the truth, she wasn't lookin' too well, Poor Jenny.
    Bb Gm7
Her eye was black, her face was red, her hair was a fright, she
Gb Ebm
looked as though she'd been up cryin' half of the night.
  B Bb Gm7 C F Bb

BRIDGE:
Bb Ab Bb Ab Eb
It seems a shame that Jenny had to go get apprehended, a heck of a fate.
     C Bb C Bb F Cm
This party was the first one she ever had attended..it had to happen
       F
on our very first date.

to ride me out of town on a rail.
  B Bb Gm7 C F Bb
I hope I'll be around when Jenny gets out of jail....Poor Jenny.
