[verse1]

E
in another time in another place

B
determination painted on his face

G B-A G-F#-E
his skills are sharpened; his mind is clear the sky is dying and the hunt is near!

E
with weapons of steel and a heart of stone

B
he lies in the twilight watches quarry roam

B B-A G-F#-E
his muscles tense at the slightest sound adrenaline flowing; his heart starts to pound!

E
not far away as the night closes in

B
the quarry scrambles; sweat on his skin

B B-A G-F#-E
his eyes are wild; his clothing is torn inches from death and for him none will mourn!

E
stumbling blindly with no place to run

B
his courage has failed with the fading sun

B B-A G-F#-E
a noise from behind; he is straining to hear he turns and looks; he starts screaming in fear!

[chorus]

E C
eyes of ice

D
burning in the night

E C
nothing can be seen

D
without second sight

E C
beyond the light

D
awaits a black hole

E C
and the eyes of ice

D
burn down to your soul!

[verse2 (Same as Verse 1)]
the quarry turns and starts to run
the hunter is patient he is having fun
he follows his prey with an easy gait the kill will be his; he has not long to wait!
over marshy ground through tangling vines
with cold fear dripping down his spine
the hunted runs; fleeing from the knife away from the hunter who would take his life!
The sun has fallen and the sky is black
a serpent coils preparing to attack
the hunted pauses to regain his breath; then resumes his retreat from the hunter and death!
a short distance away behind a rock
observing movement watching like a hawk
the quarry is tired; it is almost done upon termination the hunter will have won!
[chorus]

[solo1] (follow along with verse rhythm)
[solo2] (follow along with chorus)

[verse3 (Same as verse 1)]
a sharp report echoes through the night a streaking bullet slows the victim's flight
a trail of blood leads the hunter on as his rifle is shouldered and his knife is drawn
flesh wound burning he falls to the ground searches for cover nothing to be found
with failing vision and a final breath he turns to face his impending death
a fatal blow comes crashing down with a flash of steel hunter cuts him down
the body crumples falling at his feet the life has been taken his task is complete.
in the predawn hour on the homebound trail he relives the hunt in every dark detail
he returns to camp and prepares to rest with the oncoming night starts a new conquest!

[chorus 3x]
