E--1---2----4-------------------------------------|

D#* G#*
   This must be it

               C#*
Welcome to the new year

D#* G#*
The drinks were consumed

                C#*
The plants were destroyed

And the hors d'oeuvres dismantled

D#* G#*
I'm not smiling

  C#*
Behind this fake veneer

     D#* G#*
I am often interrupted

                C#*
Or completely ignored

    F F#
But most of all I’m bored

G# C# D#
  I'm trying to find out

C# G# C# F# / G#
If my words have any meaning

G# C# D# C#
Lackluster and full of contempt

        G# C# F# / G#
When it always ends the same

F C#
Why won’t she listen to me?

D#* G#*
Why did I come?

              C#*
Oh, why did I come here?

D#* G#*
These humans all suck

              C#*
I'd rather be home
feeling violent and lonely

D#* G#* C#*
I'm not trying to sound so insincere

        D#* G#*
but the postcard that's taped to the freezer reads:

               C#
"Wish you were here"
      F F#
How I wish I could disappear

G# C# D#
  I'm trying to find out

C# G# C# F# / G#
If my words have any meaning

G# C# D# C#
Lackluster and full of contempt

        G# C# F# / G#
When it always ends the same

G# C# D# C#
  Heads up Damage Control

          G# C# F# / G#
There’s a ring around her finger

G# C# D# C#
  Last chance for changing lanes

        G# C# F# / G#
And you missed it by a mile

F C#
Why won’t she listen to me?

D#* G#*
   This must be it

               C# G#
Welcome to the new year

This is by far the best attempt out there; however, I think it needs a little work. The verses should go: g#-d#-c#(c# for twice as long and then slide to d# on the last strum) on the "most of all I'm bored" part play: f-a#.
I think the chorus goes: g#-c#-d#(hold it a little longer)-c#. g#-c#-f(hold)-c#. The part where he says"why won't she listen to me" goes: f-c#. I've always liked this song and wanted a good tab for it since like 2008. Hopefully this has been constructive.

Thanks for tabbing,
