Notes: This tab is mostly for singers who want to play this song and accompany themselves.
The real guitar part to the song doesn't sound good without all the bass and synth and stuff;
this is just an approximation. It sounds good, though.
I submitted this because the other version of the chords for this song is really awful,
nothing like it should...

INTRO - Again, this is an approximation.

VERSE - Matt just plays the intro through this part of the song. This way sounds a lot

Am G F E7
Break me in, teach us to cheat
       Am G F E7
And to lie, cover up what shouldn't be shared
        Am G F E7
All the truth unwinding, scraping away
      Am G F E7
At my mind, please stop asking me to describe him

CHORUS - Run through the chords once before singing. GL on the falsetto, =)

F C E Am G
For one moment, I wish you'd
F C E7
Hold your stage with no feelings at all
F C E Am G
Open minded I'm sure I used
F C E7
To be so free

VERSE (the same) - I usually play the intro again before going into the second verse.

Self expressed, exhausting for all
To see and to be what you want and what you need
The truth unwinding, scraping away
At my mind, please stop asking me to describe

CHORUS (the same)

INTERLUDE - Move this shape up and down the neck.
You can omit this part if you want (it does sound kinda thin on acoustic) and just play
intro again.

And end on

CHORUS (the same)

OUTRO - Play the chords through a couple times before you come in with the vocals.

C Am Am/G
Wash me away clean your body of me
F Fm C
Erase all the memories
          Dm Am Am/G
They will only bring us pain
         F Fm G C
And I've seen all I'll ever need

That's pretty much it, email me if you have any questions/comments.

You completely missed the artificial harmonics, for one...
And opinion-wise, I would disagree that the guitar sounds bad by itself.
