              F
The lady is dying
                       F
She bends back like a wave
                      F
As her spirit is climbing
                               D#5
Through the hospital wall and away

                     F
And I wanted to hold you
                    F
As you made your escape
                         F
But now I should have told you
                               D#5
When your eyes were alive and awake
                                     F
Always in life we all must make this mistake
         G# F
And so I go it alone
        G# F
And the pressure is great
       G# F
I hold on to my own
                       D#5
Oh please oh don't go away

                 F
I wanted to know you
                       F
Before you started to fade
                      F
But I gave everything to
                         D#5
A lie and a farce and a fake
                                       F
Always in life we all must make this mistake
         G# F
And so I go it alone
        G# F
And the pressure is great
       G# F
I hold on to my own
                       D#5
Oh please oh don't go away
                                                       F
I'd like to see you when all of these angry days blow away

It's easiest to play with a capo on the first fret. I'm sure most of you could figure that out though.

The You've Passed/Where You'll Find Me Now single is such a good version of this song, with the sliding power chords, and it's almost twice as long.
