Kurt's guitar was slightly out of tune on the recording

I believe the correct tuning for this song is Drop C (tune all notes a full step down then drop the low D to C), and the chords are E and C. When I play it according to this tab, it seems a half step too high in relation to the recording.

Can I play it in standard tuning?
