I agree..I can hear the strumming in my head by the placement of the chords with the words...great..but is it "beard" or "beer"?

It is actually "Hillbilly Beer", and yes it makes more sense than Beard. They don't just make moonshine. And the hillbilly beer is truly awful, drinking rum every night would be a definite upgrade! In the actual song by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, it's Beer, not Beard. They just add an 'and' or something right after to keep the rhythm, so it's a little hard to tell for sure.
