This is a great weller tune, which can be found on "Modern Classics" which is his greatest hits album.
Chords used:
G (320022)
D (xx0232)
Em(022000)
C (x32010)
[Verses]
G D Em (roll up to G from Em)
I'm gonna clear out my head
G D Em
I'm gonna get myself straight
G D Em
I know it's never too late
G D C
To make a brand new start
Carry this on all through the song
I'm gonna kick down the door
I'm gonna get myself in
I'm gonna fix up the yard
And not fall back again
I'm gonna CLEAN up my earth
And build a heaven ON the ground
Not something distant or unfound
But something real to me
But something real to me
[Instumental]
carry on strumming patter with G, D, Em
All that I can I can be
All that I am I CAN see
All that is mine is in my hands
So to myself I call
There's somewhere else I should be
There's someone else I CAN see
There's something more I can find
IT'S ONLY UP TO ME
I'm gonna clean up my earth
And build a heaven ON the ground
Not something distant on a cloud
But something real to me
But something real to me
I'm gonna clear out my head
I'm gonna get myself straight
I KNOW it's never too late
To make a brand new start
To make a brand new start
To make a brand new start

How can you be listening to or playing this song & have such hostility going on?
Good tab, I play it using these chords & it always goes down well.
As for the chords being beginners I find it easier to take something in it's basic state then expand on it naturally through the feel of adding your own hammers/pull-offs etc. You expand & evolve from the chords.

Check out the live videos on Youtube you will see that Paul plays this song in different ways sometimes he picks it out but on others he mostly plays the full chords. Whatever, people make music in the best way they can some are excellent and some are just average (like me) so just do you're thing and enjoy.
