[Intro]
Dm Gmaj (x2)

[Verse 1]
Am Bm7 C Dm
How can I just let you walk away, just let you leave without a trace
       Fmaj Gmaj Em Am
When I stand here taking every breath with you, ooh
           Dm Fmaj Gmaj G7
You're the only one who really knew me at all
Am Bm7 C Dm
How can you just walk away from me, when all I can do is watch you leave
          Fmaj Gmaj Em Am
Cos we've shared the laughter and the pain, and even shared the tears
           Dm Fmaj Gmaj G7
You're the only one who really knew me at all

[Chorus]
                     C D7
So take a look at me now, cos there's just an empty space
                    Am Fmaj Dm Gmaj
And there's nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face
                       C D7
Just take a look at me now, well there's just an empty space
               Am Fmaj
And you coming back to me is against the odds
           Dm Gmaj G7
And that's what I've got to face.

[Verse 2]
  Am Bm7 C Dm
I wish I could just make you turn around, turn around and see me cry
           Fmaj Gmaj Em Am
There's so much I need to say to you, so many reasons why
           Dm Fmaj Gmaj G7
You're the only one who really knew me at all

[Chorus]
                     C D7
So take a look at me now, well there's just an empty space
                    Am Fmaj Dm Gmaj
And there's nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face
            G7 C D7
Just take a look at me now, cos there's just an empty space
       Am Fmaj Dm Gmaj
But to wait for you, is all I can do, and that's what I've got to face

[Outro]
            G7 C D7
Just take a look at me now, cos I'll still be standing here
               Am Fmaj
And you coming back to me is against all odds
       Dm Gmaj G7
It's a chance I've got to take.
Dm Gmaj (x2)
            G7 Dm Gmaj
Just take a look at me now.

I think the chord you mean on the intro is a Dsus2 so you would play......Dsus2-Dm-G-G, i agree with the subtle chord changes some seem a bit harsh, on the opening line i play Am-A5 it is subtle (and easier if your still learning) but a good tab though.

I gotta disagree with the other commenter. That's pretty much dead on.

Putting "maj" after all those chords is redundant. Plus my reptilian brain plays a maj7 every time because that's when you usually see "maj" explicitly denoted.

The Dsus2 could work as a leading tone into the G. If you bang it out on piano you'll see that piano riff ends on the E note right before going to the G chord.

Specifically, play the RH in 3rd inversion of the Dm and the 2nd inversion of the G maj. That gets you the voicing for the signature piano lick.

These notes are more for my own reference than anything else... I forget this stuff.
