[Intro]
Am G F Am

[Verse 1]
Am C G
As I went out one evening to take the evening air
F G C F
I was blessed by a blood-red moon
Dm G Am G
In Lincoln Park the dark was turning
Am C G
I spied a fair young maiden and a flame was in her eyes
F G C F
And on her face lay the steel blue skies
Dm G Am
Of Lincoln Park, the dark was turning
G
Turning

[Verse 2]
Am C G
They spread their sheets upon the ground just like a wandering tribe
F G C F
And the wise men walked in their Robespierre robes
Dm G Am G
Through Lincoln Park the dark was turning
Am C G
The towers trapped and trembling, and the boats were tossed about
F G C G
When the fog rolled in and the gas rolled out
Dm G Am
From Lincoln Park the dark was turning
G
Turning

[Verse 3]
Am C G
Like wild horses freed at last we took the streets of wine
F G C G
But I searched in vain for she stayed behind
Dm G Am
In Lincoln Park the dark was turning
G
Turning
Am C G
I'll go back to the city where I can be alone
F G C G
And tell my friend she lies in stone
Dm G Am G
In Lincoln Park the dark was turning

The song on the record is played with arpeggiated piano. Phil Ochs also played this song live on his acoustic guitar. These are the chords that he played, if you were to play chords, otherwise these chords are a blueprint for the arpeggios that were the rhythmic foundation of this song.
