LAST DATE (Floyd Cramer)
I don't have the details of the song written down, but LAST DATE is
basically just C, F and G. As written by Floyd Cramer, it was just a
piano solo with a bit of percussion, vocal "ooohs", bass and strings,
so it sounds best if you play it on a piano instead of a guitar (IMHO).
If you can figure out the melody line to go over-top the chords, I can
give you the chords... hang on a second while I put the CD on and I'll
type the chords as I hear them... bars are separated by slashes...
Intro
F / F Em Dm / C / C Bm Am / G / G / G / G
Verse
C / C / C / C (bass line goes C D E) / F / F / F / F Em Dm
C / C / C / C / F / F / F / F Em Dm
C / C / C / C / F / F / F / F Em Dm
Chorus
C / C / F / F/ C / C / F / F/ C / C / G / G / C / C / G / G
Verse again
Chorus again
Verse again (with improv guitar jazzy melody)
Chorus
End
F / Em / Dm / C

This was my dad’s favorite song. He loved Floyd Cramer. Thank you so much for this, you don’t know how much it means and how closely I hold this song in my heart. 🖤
