The original recording for the song
was recorded at an odd speed(I think), because
no matter how I tune my guitar it
sounds off. so I went with standard tuning.

Yes, their recording is about 1/2 note sharp. My band plays it in standard tuning, but when I practiced it with the mp3, I would tune up 1/2 step or else it sounded terrible. Finally, I figured out how to pull the song into an audio program and bring it down 1/2 step and save it as a new mp3. Now I can practice it at normal tuning and not break my ears. lol

I know they tune down a 1/2 step when they play live. Not sure when they started doing that.

I know that when the play live, at least within the last 10 or 12 years, they do tune down a 1/2 step.
