[Intro] F#m//E A/// Bm/// F#m///

[Verse 1]
   F#m
My mother came to Hazrard when I was just seven
F#m A
Even then the folks in town said with prejudised eyes
     B
That boy's not right

F#m
Treee years ago when I came to know Mary
                                        A
First time that someone look beyond the rumours and the lies
            B
And saw the man inside

[Chorus]
   D A
We used to walk down by the river
    D F#m
She loves to watch the sun go down
   D A F#m
We used to walk along the ri.... ver
    E D F#m
And dream our way out of this town

[Interlude] F#m//E A/// Bm/// F#m///

F#m
No one understood what I felt for Mary
                                          A
No one cared until the night she went out walking all alone
     B
And never came home

F#m
Man with the badge came knocking next morning
                                    A
Here was I surrounded by a thousand fingers suddenly
         B
Pointing right at me

[Chorus]
  D A
I swear I left her by the river
  D F#m
I swear I left her safe and sound
  D A F#m
I need to make it to the ri.... ver
     E D F#m
And leave this old Nebraska town

[Bridge]
E
Thinkng about my life going by
D A
How it's done me wrong
E
There's no escape for me this time
D A E F#m
All of my rescue are gone, long gone

[Guitar Break]
  D A
I swear I left her by the river
  D F#m
I swear I left her safe and sound
  D A F#m
I need to make it to the ri.... ver
     E D F#m
And leave this old Nebraska town

Tabbed from someone elses tab. Just using capo makes it easier to play.

I don't really see how it's easier with a D# in. That's one of the most annoying chord of all for me :P cause i cant play it only at the 6th fret to sound good

I played it in normal tunning, in the original key, and the A# in the verse is more likely to be an F.
