Tuning: Half-step down

This song's chords are easy; however, it took a long time for this noob to
find the right way to palm mute and have the right strum pattern. It's a
great way to learn palm muting!

[Intro]

              Cadd9
e|--------------X---|
B|--0-----------3---|
G|----0---2-0---0---| 3x, then Asus
D|------0-----4-X---|
A|--------------3---|
E|--------------X---|

[Verse 1]

              Em G Cadd9
Am I loud and clear or am I breaking up?

                Em G Cadd9
Am I still your charm or am I just bad luck?

    Em G Cadd9 Asus
Are we getting closer, or are we just getting more lost?

              Em G Cadd9
I'll show you mine if you show me yours first

              Em G Cadd9
Let's compare scars I'll tell you whose is worse

      Em G Cadd9 Asus
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our own words

[Chorus]

   Em G Cadd9 Asus
We live on front porches and swing life away

   Em G Cadd9 Asus
We get by just fine here on minimum wage

   Em G Cadd9 Asus
If love is a labor I'll slave 'til the end

  Em G Cadd9 Asus
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand

[Verse 2]

                  Em G Cadd9
I've been here so long; think that its time to move

                Em G Cadd9
The winter's so cold summer's over too soon

   Em G Cadd9 Asus
so let's pack our bags and settle down where palm trees grow

              Em G Cadd9
I've got some friends, some that I hardly know

                   Em G Cadd9
But we've had some times I wouldn't trade for the world

               Em G Cadd9 Asus
We chase these days down with talks of the places that we will go

[Chorus]

   Em G Cadd9 Asus
We live on front porches and swing life away

   Em G Cadd9 Asus
We get by just fine here on minimum wage

   Em G Cadd9 Asus
If love is a labor I'll slave 'til the end

  Em G Cadd9 Asus
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand

      Cadd9 Asus
Until you hold my hand

Em G Cadd9
Swing life away

Em G Cadd9
Swing life away

Em G Cadd9 Asus
Swing life away

Em G Cadd9
Swing life away

[Outro]

e|--------|
B|--0-----|
G|----0---| then G
D|------0-|
A|--------|
E|--------|

I can't help but point out: you talked about figuring out the palm-muting and then didn't tab out the palm-muting.

McIlrath uses power chords for the verse. Asus should be replaced with a D chord:

E5 G5 C5 D-something-or-other
E|----------------------------------------------------|
B|--------------------------3-33333-33333-33333-------|
G|-----------------5-----5--0-00000-00000-00000-------| Repeat once
D|-----2-----5--5-55-55-55-54-44444-44444-44444-------| and then go
A|--2-22-25-55-53-33-33-33-35-55555-55555-55555-------| to chorus.
E|--0-00-03-33-3--------------------------------------|
PM: *** **** **** **** *

I'm not trying to show you up or anything. Just trying to help you enjoy playin the song like McIlrath does, not that there's anything wrong with doing what sounds best to you.

Watch this video to get hear the palm-muting real clearly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtNlbRAiM54

Sorry, bad formatting. This is fixed with underscores:

It sounds good... but better in half step down.
