quite yet so this may be a little off but it sounds pretty good either way.

Capo on 4, not 3. And most definitely not Am -- Try Dm.

The "guitar bit" for "and we both know everything but we can’t learn to leave so I’ll tell you what you need" play a C to G after the "hold on forever" From there it goes Dm, G, C, F on the first line. Into F, G, C on the second line. Then continue. So it would be: G, hold on forever C, G and if we, Dm both know, G everything but, C we can't learn to, F leave, F, so I'll, G tell you what you, C need. Some of the strums happen right as you say the first word that follows after each chord in the list. You can listen to the song for a better feel.
