Mandolin Wind chords
Rod Stewart 1971 (Every Picture Tells a Story)

Capo II *

A G Em A 2x

G D

         G D
When the rain came I thought you'd leave
        G D
cause I knew how much you loved the sun
        G D
But you chose to stay, stay and keep me warm
            G D
Through the darkest nights I've ever known
       A G
If the mandolin wind couldn't change a thing
              Em A
Then I know I love ya

G D

        G D
Oh, the snow fell without a break
G D
Buffalo died in the frozen fields you know
            G D
Through the coldest winter in almost fourteen years
  G D
I couldn't believe you kept a smile
          A G
Now I can rest assured knowing that we've seen the worst
             Em A
And I know I love ya

G D

G D
Oh, I never was good with romantic words
       G D
So the next few lines come really hard
G D
Don t have much but what I've got is yours
  G D
Except of course my steel guitar
            A
Ha, cause I know you don't play
         G
But I'll teach you one day
          Em A
Because I love ya

G D 4x
A G Em A x2

G D

G D
I recall the night we knelt and prayed
G D
Noticing, your face was thin and pale
  G D
I found it hard to hide my tears
  G D
I felt ashamed, I felt I'd let you down
   A G
No mandolin wind couldn't change a thing
         Em A
Couldn't change a thing no, no

A G Em A

A G Em A
La dadada la da la dadada La dadada la dada

A G Em A

    A G
The coldest winter in almost fourteen years
      Em A
Could never, never change your mind, yeh

      G
And I love ya
                 A
Yes indeed and I love ya
      A
And I love ya
        G
Lordy I love ya

      A
And I love ya
         G
Darlin I love ya. . .

* Alternate:

Capo IV

Great tab, thank you. I'm a beginner - just bought a capo today to play this - but shouldn't the end of each verse ("Then I know I love ya") be G D? Em A doesn't sound right to me.

I love the early Stewart stuff, and this site is my main source of learning.
