Intro: A, A, F#m, E, A (2Xs)

 A
Was it a huntsman or a player
 A
That made you pay the cost
 F#m
That now assumes relaxed positions
 E A
And prostitutes your loss?
 A
Were you tortured by your own thirst
 A
In those pleasures that you seek
 D
That made you Tom the curious
 E A
That makes you James the weak?
 E A
And you claim you got something going
 E A
Something you call unique
 D A
But I've seen your self-pity showing
 E A
And the tears rolled down your cheeks.

A
Soon you know I'll leave you
A
And I'll never look behind
F#m
'Cos I was born for the purpose
E A
That crucifies your mind.
A
So con, convince your mirror.
A
As you've always done before
D
Giving substance to shadows
E A
Giving substance ever more.
E A
And you assume you got something to offer
E A
Secrets shiny and new
D A
But how much of you is repetition
E A
That you didn't whisper to him too.

I think the second A is an AMAJ7 (x02120)

I agree with marshtin. The second A sounds like an Amaj7, and it fits musically.

You're right he's playing AMaj7. He's also hammering a D note on the 2nd string while playing the first 3 chords. While playing the E chord he hammers the E note on the 4th string before going back to A.
