Gmaj7 sounds really off to me. I don't know. When I sing it it doesn't sound right. Nice try though, drooge.

I tried playing G7 as 320001 and it sounded better but I just decided to move it up a step to A. Maybe playing it in the key of A just suits my voice better but I prefer it than how it's tabbed here, in G.

just substitute the Am for a Gmaj7 and its all good
