Angel
Sarah McLachlan
I wasn't going to put another version up, but the ones here aren't quite right,
and the one that is seems a little over-complicated.
Here's an easy version although it may not be exact or dead on for the fussy types.
** Capo - 1st fret if you want to play along with the song **
[Intro]
C -> Csus4
C -> Csus4
[Verse]
(C) Dm F
Spend all your time waiting for that second chance,
C F G
for a break that would make it okay.
(G) Dm F
There's always some reason to feel not good enough,
C F G
and it's hard, at the end of the day.
(G) Dm F
I need some distraction, oh, a beautiful release.
C F G
....memories seep from my veins.
(G) Dm F C F G
Let me be empty, oh, and weightless and maybe, I'll find some peace tonight.
[Chorus]
C Csus4 C Em
In the arms of the angel, fly away from here,
F C G
from this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you feel.
C Csus4 C Em
You are pulled from the wreckage, of your silent reverie.
F C G C
You're in the arms of the angel, may you find.... some comfort here.
F C F
[Verse 2]
(F) Dm F
So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn,
C F G
there's vultures and thieves at your back.
(G) Dm F
The storm keeps on twisting. Keep on building the lies
C G
that you make up for all that you lack.
(G) Dm F
Don't make no difference, escape one last time.
C F G
It's easier to believe...
(G) Dm F
in this sweet madness, oh, this glorious sadness,
C F G
that brings me to my knees.
F C G C
You're in the arms of the angel, may you find.... some comfort here.
[Outro]
C -> Csus4
C -> Csus4

I've always liked this song but I had to transpose it down -5 and take the capo off to be in my vocal range. I've always thought this would be a great song for a male country artist to cover but I haven't ever heard of one. Yet. Still makes me think of sad puppies in bad places though.
