Lyrics

Hey pretty baby, are you ready for me
it's your good rockin' daddy down from Tennessee
I'm just out of Austin bound for San Antone
with the radio blastin' and the bird dog on

There's a speed trap up ahead in Selma Town
But no local's gonna shut me down
cause me and my boys got this rig unwound
and we've come a thousand miles from the guitar town

Nothing ever happened around my hometown
and I aint the kind to just hang around
but I heard someone calling my name one day
so I followed that voice down a lost highway

Everybody told me you can't get far
on thirty seven dollars and a Jap guitar
now I'm smokin' into Texas with the hammer down
and a rockin' little combo from the guitar town

Bridge

D
Hey pretty baby, don't you know it aint my fault
C G
Love to hear the steel belts hummin' on the asphault
D
Wake up in the middle of the night in a truck stop
C D7
stumble in the restaurant, wonderin' why I don't stop

Well I gotta keep rockin' while I still can
I got a two pack habit and a motel tan
when my boots hit the boards I'm a brand new man
put my back to the riser and make my stand

Hey pretty baby won't you hold me tight
I'm loadin' up and rollin' out of here tonight
one of these days I'm gonna settle down
and take you back with me to the guitar town

Last Chorus

E----------------------|
B----------------------|
G----------------------|
D-----------------0--2-|
A----0-2--0----2-------|
D-5---------5----------|

Yeah, always a question how to tab the 6-string bass for standard electric guitar. Sometimes I just hit the open D string instead so I can do the low-E string slides from the 2nd fret to the 3rd fret before each open G chord. Also try dropping back to the G chord rather than a B.

If you do this with a drop-d tuning it should be more like this the second time:

E------------------------------|
B------------------------------|
G------------------------------|
D------------------------------|
A---------------3--2--0--------|
D---0-1-2-5-------------5-4--5-|
