Here's a nice variation: Transpose down -4 and put a capo on fret 4. Then, in place of the C and Dm, play Cmaj7 and Dm7. I think it sounds more like the voicing in the song. But playing untransposed Emaj7 and F#m7 doesn't sound as good IMO.
