We have an official Gives You Hell tab made by UG professional guitarists.
Check out the tab
Song: Gives You Hell
Artist: All American Rejects
Tabber: Dirk Lance (karodgers2@bsu.edu)

EDIT: I'd like to give credit to chris_james for the mini solo part of the tab. That's where
I got the positioning/fretting idea and went from there.

There are some pretty good tabs out there, in fact I want to give credit to anyone who
already submitted tabs on UG, I took a little from each. But I wanted to put the missing
parts in to try to make a complete tab. So basically, most is a re-interpretation of
others' tabs, but the new parts are completely by me and my ear. I know not all
instruments are guitar on this song, but this tab is meant to transcribe all parts into
guitar parts. AAR are a two guitar band so second guitar parts will be noted.

[Intro/Verse 1]

e|-------------------------------|
b|-------------------------------|
g|-----9------6-----6-----6------|
d|-------------------------------|
A|--7-7----4-4-------------------|
E|---------------5-5---5-5-------|

Second Guitar/Piano occurs at 0:33, 0:43, and 0:52.
e|---------------------------|
b|---------------------------|
g|---------------------------|
d|---------------------------|
A|---------------------------|
E|--5--4--2------------------|

[Bridge] These are the chords I use. You can mess around with how you
break them up/arpeggiate them, but this is the basic gist.

e|--7--------7-----------------|
b|--7---9----7---5-------------|
g|--8---9----8---6-------------|
d|--9---9----9---5-------------|
A|--9---7----9---7-------------|
E|--7--------7---5-------------|

[Chorus] (x3) 1st Chorus ending only:
e|---------------------------|---------------------|----------|
b|---------------------------|---------------------|----------|
g|--9-9----------------------|--9-9----------------|----------|
d|--9-9--11-11--7-7--7-7-----|--9-9--9-9--7-7--7-7-|--x-7\6---|
A|--7-7--11-11--7-7--7-7-----|--7-7--9-9--7-7--7-7-|--x-7\6---|
E|--------9--9--5-5--5-5-----|-------7-7--5-5--5-5-|--x-5\4---|

Note: I've seen the music video and live footage and this is not the way they
play the chorus chords. But they are still the same chords, and I like this way better.
If you want to play it "accurately," shift the chords down to a lower part of the neck.

[Mini-solo] 2nd Piano/Guitar plays Verse 1 underneath.
e|----------------------------------------------------------------|
b|--12b14r12-9-10p9-----------12b14r12-9-10p9----12~--12/14-12----|
g|------------------11-----------------------11-------------------|
d|---------------------10b11--------------------------------------|
A|----------------------------------------------------------------|
E|----------------------------------------------------------------|

[Verse 2]
e|-------------------------------------------|
b|---------9---------10---------9---------7--|
g|-----9---------9----------9---------9------|
d|---9---9-----9---9------9---9-----9---9----|
A|-------------------------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------------|

[Bridge] These are the chords I use. You can mess around with how you
break them up/arpeggiate them, but this is the basic gist.

e|--7--------7-----------------|
b|--7---9----7---5-------------|
g|--8---9----8---6-------------|
d|--9---9----9---5-------------|
A|--9---7----9---7-------------|
E|--7--------7---5-------------|

REPEAT [CHORUS], but it ends THIS WAY:
e|---------------------------|
b|---------------------------|
g|---------------------------|
d|---7-7/9-------------------|
A|---7-7/9-------------------|
E|---5-5/7-------------------|

Second Bridge, Rhythm Guitar: Like the other bridge, these are the chords I use, but
it's up to you if you want to strum them or arpeggiate them. Find out what sounds
right to you. I've added vocal cues to help.

   Now... ...you...me ...take...no...me
e|------------------------------------------|
b|---9--------10---9------------------------|
g|---9--------9----9------8------8--9-------|
d|---9--------9----9------9------9--9-------|
A|---7--------7----7------9------7--7-------|
E|------------------------7-----------------|

   Here's...look...eyes... sad,sad...
e|------------------------------------------|
b|----9------10-----9-----------------------|
g|----9-------9-----9----------8-8-8-8------|
d|----9-------9-----9----------9-9-9-9------|
A|----7-------7-----7----------9-9-9-9------|
E|-----------------------------7-7-7-7------|
                               . . . . PM until drums/vocal breakdown.

[Second Bridge] Lead Guitar: This was the hardest part for me to find out, but I think
I have it. This is what sets my tab apart from the others, no one has tabbed this yet.
Comes in at 2:29.

e|--16p12----12-(x4)--19p12----12-(x4)--17p12----12-(x4)--14~--------|
b|--------14----------------14----------------14---------------------|
g|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
d|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------------------------------------|

I contemplated tabbing this as tapping, as there are a few ways to do this, but I went
with arpeggios. Do it however you like, as long as it sounds right. This is my way.

[Last Chorus] Very different! Listen closely.
e|--------------------------------------------|
b|--------------------------------------------|
g|--9-9--9-9----------------------------------|
d|--9-9--9-9--7-7--7-7--11-11--9-9--2-2--2-2--| (x2)
A|--7-7--7-7--7-7--7-7--11-11--9-9--2-2--2-2--|
E|------------5-5--5-5---9--9--7-7--0-0--0-0--|

[Outro Chorus] rhythm:
e|------------------------------------------------|
b|------------------------------------------------|
g|------------------------------------------------|
d|--11-11--9-9--2-2--2-2--11-11-11-11-9-9-9-9-----|
A|--11-11--9-9--2-2--2-2--11-11-11-11-9-9-9-9-----|
E|---9--9--7-7--0-0--0-0---9--9--9--9-7-7-7-7-----|

Lead comes that comes in at 3:10 over [Last Chorus]
e|------------------------------------------------------------------|
b|------------------------------------------------------------------|
g|--9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-8-8-8-8-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-----|

Best tab on here, but in the chorus one guitar plays the part you have and another plays the part in version 3, haha, FYI If you watch the full perfomance version of the video you can see him play it.

nice tab. if i had to fix one thing though it'd be the intro Instead of [tab]e|-------------------------------| b|-------------------------------| g|-----9------6-----6-----6------| d|-------------------------------| A|--7-7----4-4-------------------| E|---------------5-5---5-5-------|[/tab] it should be more like: [tab]e|-------------------------------| b|------------5-----5-----5------| g|-----9------6-----6-----6------| d|-----9-------------------------| A|--7-7----4-4---0-0---0-0-------| E|-------------------------------|[/tab]
