thats not a Dm7 pal its a DM7, the minor would have the e string first fret - not second. also, neither is the right chord. its an F#m. DM7 and F#m have the same notes, except the F#m doesnt have a D, there is no D note in the key of E major. play one, it will sound wrong because that would make it E dominant, not E major. D F# A C# F#m F# A C those are the three high strings at the second fret, play the D string open with them and the chord wont fit the song, play it at the 4th fret and it will :)
