Yeah, I don't think D is the right chord. I myself prefer to play G instead of the D. To me it sounds more correct than
the D. But good job.

Thanks for your work on this - Great job. Couple of new suggestions that seem OK to my ear:
Chorus progression: Em G C Am (with a C on the held "needed" at the end of the chorus and on the "everything" at the end of the song)
On the 2 line break before the chorus:
