This song is very easy to play, but Darnielle's awesome chord voicings make
it beautifully satisfying. Most of the credit for this goes to TMG Wiki, but
I fixed a few errors by watching John play it live here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICCWW40Vhog
There's a repeating bass riff (I think? There's definitely a bass playing this on
the 5th & 7th frets, but sound like it's in the guitar octave) tabbed below, and
John usually does some sort of embelishment on the end of each verse, so I put
the most common one below as well.

[Chords]
G/D: x5540x or x55403 (John uses the first)
G: 320033
A5/G: xxx055
G5: xxx033
A/E: x776xx
All others play according to UG pop-ups :)

Chords looms right, but it drives me crazy why people get lazy and don't list all the lyrics. it doesn't matter that it's a simple progression.

The progression is Dsus2, Em, and G.

Actually, its not Dsus. John plays the whole thing omiting the F# from the D major until the end, so playing Dsus2 kind of takes the place of the bass looping E and D when strumming Dsus2. By doing this Dsus2 emits the same airy D and E repetition.
