This song will be played in an open G tuning so that means EADGBe will be XGDGBD.
Take the lowest E off, tune the 'A' string to a 'G' and tune the highest E to a 'D'.
Now you have a tuning like this: XBDGBD
You can also tune the lowest 'E' down a 'D'. Then, in case you happen to hit it...
the chords will still sound OK

That was.... complicated. But it really works! Great job!

there's alot in here, but once you pick out what you want, it's great.
to those who think this tab sucks and feel the need to complain publicly about it just because you can, go find something more constructive to do with your time than play guitar like cut lawns with scissors. seriously, you'd be less annoying doing that.
good job with the tab, it takes effort to put this much on one tab and i appreciate it as i'm sure are others who feel the need to be thorough. it's better to put everything down so everyone can find a version they like than to put down one way and have people complain about it being "wrong" because we all know there's only one way to play things...

you're wrong about chelsea drug store man, the real chelsea drug was in excelsior, minnesota (the town i live in). mr jimmy was a homeless man that lived only by the buisiness owners in the area giving him food, he just died last year. i know because i met him several times.
the REAL story is this: in the 60's, the rolling stones played in excelsior, and werent well recieved. later he went to chelsea drug (which is, sadly, now a mcdonalds) and ordered a cherry coke, at the time a cherry coke was just coke with cherries, but the soda jerk was out of cherries. jimmy was standing next to him, and said "you cant always get what you want", that inspired mick to write this song.
That is most assuredly a fact. there are a million tributes to jimmy in this town, plaques on corners and benches everywhere you look. ask anyone who knew jimmy, the storeowners, or just regular people, they all know the same story.
