The Snuts - Boardwalk
Taken from the studio version on their Mixtape EP.
The official lyrics for this song haven't been released yet so I've done my best to
write them accurately from listening. If you have any suggestions for corrections leave a comment!
Edit - I've since changed some of them based on the lyrics supplied with the W.L. record, but some of them
still seem wrong from what is actually sung.
The C/G is sometimes played as a Cmaj7/G.
The D is played in a C shape up 2 frets: 554030 [technically a D/A(add9,add11)],
or as 554000 [D6(9/11)/A; whatever you want to call it].
You can get an idea from the live version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmZyGzPK9w8.
[Intro]
Em D
[Verse]
C/G
Won’t you take me to the boardwalk
Em D
To the sun blocking your eyes
C/G
Won’t you carry me through these roadblocks
Em D
And if something isn’t feeling right
C/G
I’ll protect you from these cold hearts
Em D
Heard in people living under these skies
C/G
Won’t you tell them it’s a contract
Em D
Yeah and I know sometimes it’s easy to sign
C/G
But don’t mistake it for the wrong track
Em D
‘Cos there’s time for everybody to shine
C/G
Please remember it’s not all bad
Em D
When you’re sad sometimes just being alive
C/G
Won’t you drive me down the Gold Coast
Em D
To the edge of Earth and maybe beyond
C/G
Won’t you walk me down this tightrope
Em D
And if something isn’t feeling right
C/G
I’ll protect you with the right notes
Em D
And there’s time for everybody to smile
C/G
Please remember it’s not all bad
Em D
When you’re sad sometimes just being alive
[Chorus]
C/G Em D
Won’t you take me to the boardwalk
C/G Em D
Won’t you take me to the boardwalk
C/G Em D
Won’t you take me to the boardwalk
C/G Em D
[Bridge]
C/G Em
Bolt me down if I’ve been singing a song
D C/G
If salt and wind’s been stinging my eyes
My time and all my winnings
Em D
All my bones and all my innings
C/G
All my cuts and all my trimmings
Em D C/G
And call my name and I’ll be swimming to the boardwalk
[Chorus]
Em D
To the boardwalk
C/G
Won’t you take me to the boardwalk
Em D
To the boardwalk
C/G
Won’t you take me to the boardwalk
