if you listen to the album, you can hear that these chords aren't 100%.
It starts off Cadd5 (x32013) then goes Em Am Asus2 (x0220) Am Asu2 Am Asus2 Fadd9 (xx3213)
then the chorus is F (x33211) G (320033) Em Fadd9... x2 Gadd4 (320013) Fadd9
as follows:
[tab]
F G
yes there is love if you want it
Em
don't sound like no sonnet
Fadd9
My lord
Gadd4 Fadd9
My lord
[/tab]
the bridge: G Fadd9 Gadd4 Fadd9 Fsus2
as follows:
[tab]
G Fadd9 Gadd4 Fadd9 Fsus2
Sinking fast within a boat without a hull
Gadd4 Fadd9 Fsus2
My lord
G Fadd9 Gadd4 Fadd9 Fsus2
Dreaming of day when I can see you there
Gadd4 Fadd9 Fsus2 G Fadd9 Gadd4 Fadd9 Fsus2
My side Whoo
Gadd4 Fadd9 Fsus2 G Fadd9 Gadd4 Fadd9 Fsus2
By my side Whoo
[/tab]
Then there is the next chorus: here we go again and my head is gone.... the chords there are identical to the previous chorus.
Lastly, the outro:
Fsus2 Gadd4 Fadd9
By now
After all of the by now's, he ends by playing
Fadd9 Fsus2 Gadd4 G a couple of times (3 times with the cd, 5 times live) it all depends on what the **** he wants to do....

Great tab thanks - needs some lyrical/structure adjustments. First line of the bridge is "sinking faster than a boat without a hull". There is no additional chorus, it should go straight to "Here we go again..." so this section isn't really a bridge it's more like an extended outro. You can hold off on repeating all those "my sides" too - it's easier to play a couple of times and just draw them out a bit longer - as he does in the original and live versions on the deluxe remastered album. As others have noted - Richie likes to sprinkle in the sus and add chords so it's safe to add/remove fingers too taste e.g. Am/Am7/Asus2 etc.

Definitely alot better than the other 2 posts.
I am not sure I agree 100% with the fadd9's, I would make them fmaj7 But close enough.
He definitely plays C not Cadd5. I think in general, leaving the high E open sounds better for this whole song (except G chord).
I would play as the chords in this song:
Am7 = x02010
and C = x32010
and Em = 022000
then Fmaj7 and G
Also, A reason this tab is more accurate: you can clearly see when they do it live that they are doing fmaj7, not F, so this tab is more accurate.
Also, Thanks for the full lyrics.
