[Intro]

Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
Asus2 Bsus4

[Verse 1]

Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
I Wish you'd walk in again
Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
      Imagine if you just did
Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4 Asus2 Bsus4
I'd fill you in on the things you missed
Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
   Oh sleepless knights,
  Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
A grown up man dressed in white
      Asus2 Bsus4 E B/D# C#m7
Who I thought might just save your life
 Bsus4 Asus2 Bsus4 E
But he couldn't, so you died

[Verse 2]

Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
  I don't like it, now you're dead
Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
It's not the same when I scratch my own head
Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4 Asus2 Bsus4
I haven't got the nails for it
      Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
And I know that God doesn't exist
    Asus2 E Bsus4 C#m7 Bsus4
And all of the palaver surrounding it
      Asus2 Bsus4 E B/D# C#m7 Bsus4 Asus2 Bsus4 E
But I like to think you hear me sometimes

[Break]

Bsus4 C#m7
So I reached for a borrowed fleece
        C
From my dad or from Denise
C#m7 C Asus2
Always trying to keep warm, when you're the sun

[Verse 3]

  Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E Asus2
I sat with you beside your bed and cried
    E C#m7 B/D# E
For things that I wish I'd said
Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E Asus Bsus4
You still had your nose red
Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
And if I live past 72,
  Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
I hope I'm half as cool as you

[Instrumental]

Asus2 Bsus4 E B/D# C#m7 Bsus4 Asus2 Bsus4 E

[Verse 4]

  Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
I got my pen and thought that I'd write
  Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
A melody and line for you tonight
  Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E Asus2 Bsus4
I think that's how I make things feel alright
     Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
Made in my room, this simple tune
      Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
Will always keep me close to you
    Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
The crowds will sing their voices ring
         Asus2 Bsus4
And it's like you never left

[Verse 5]

           Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
But I'm bereft you see
                Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
I think you can tell
Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
I haven't been doing too well
Asus2 Bsus4

[Outro]

Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
Asus2 E C#m7 B/D# E
Asus2 Bsus4 E B/D# C#m7 Bsus4 Asus2 Bsus4 E

The lyric you want is 'from my dad or from denise' Denise is the name of his mum

Also the E says after B/D# does that mean it's a regular E the rest of the time? And any idea on strumming/ picking pattern, I can't make it sound right?

Awesome thanks for that. Yeh that's correct, use a regular E elsewhere. In terms of strumming pattern its a bit tricky, since the chords don't hold on for long. You'll have to listen out carefully for the changes. As a suggestion for instance the first the first three chords of the verse (Asus2 E Bsus4) can each be played with (D-DU) strumming pattern for each chord , so fairly short. then the C#m7 and Bsus4 after that are shorter in length. Try playing them with (DU) on each chord. Hope that helps!

Cheers man, also the 'sleepless nights' line is actually 'Knights' referring to the doctor being like a white knight who doesn't sleep what with tying to help his nan
