***CAPO 2nd Fret***

INTRO: D

#1.
D Am Em Bm E7
Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins,
A11 A7
silently closing her bedroom door,
A11 A7
leaving the note that she hoped would say more,
         D Am Em
she goes downstairs to the kitchen clutching
    Bm E7
her handkerchief.
A11 A7 A11
Quietly turning the backdoor key, stepping outside
       A7
she is free.
D
She (We gave her most of our lives.)

Is leaving (Sacrificed most of our lives.)
                  Am6 Bm
Home (We gave her everything money could buy.)
                         E7
She's leaving home after living alone
    Bm E7
for so many years.

#2.
D Am Em Bm E7
Father snores as his wife gets into her dressing gown.
A11 A7
Picks up the leter that's lying there,
A11 A7
standing alone at the top of the stairs,
           D Am Em
she breaks down and cries to her husband,
            Bm E7
'Daddy, our baby's gone.'
A11 A7
Why would she treat us so thoughtlessly?
A11 A7
How could she do this to me?
D
She (We never thought of ourselves.

is leaving (Never a thought for ourselves.)
                   Am6 Bm
home (We struggled hard all our lives to get by.)
                         E7
She's leaving home after living alone
    Bm E7
for so many years.

#3.
D Am Em Bm
Friday morning at nine o'clock she is far away,
A11 A7
Waiting to keep the appointment she made.
A11 A7
Meeting a man from the motor trade.
D
She (What did we do that was wrong?)

Is having (We didn't know it was wrong.)
                Am6 Bm
Fun (Fun is the one thing that money can't buy.)
                          E7 Bm
Something inside that was always denied, for so many years.
              E7 G D
She's leaving home...bye, bye.

There are lots of corrections, but you have the general idea. I haven't got to the chorus yet, but as far as the verse is concerned:

Play barre chords
It should go D Am7 Em7 Bm E9
The A11 A7 is good. I suggest open chords for that.
x0203x for A11, x02020 for A7

So yeah, you have the general idea, just some minor corrections. Good job.

If your having trouble with a strumming pattern, its because you didn't realize the song was in 3/4 time. Just 3 down strokes works, or you can be creative.
