About this tab version
They play these chords on the Guilded Palace of Sin version (the only version I know). Strumming pattern is down, down-up, down-up, on a 1, 2-and, 3-and count. After the last E chord of every verse, I do another measure of E with my pinkie on the B string at the 3d fret to transition into the verse. Don't know what to call that chord. I do the same thing after the E chord at the end of the first line of the chorus. Was this info helpful? Yes No

[Intro]

E B7 A E (1x)

[Verse 1]
           E B7
This old town is filled with sin
         E A
It'll swallow you in
    E B7
If you've got the money to burn
        E B7
Take it home right away
            E A
You've got three years to pay
    E B7 E
And Satan is waiting his turn

[Chorus]
         A B7 E
This old earthquake is gonna leave us in the poorhouse
    A E B7
It feels like this whole town's insane
       A B7 E A
On the thirty-first floor, a gold-plated door
      E B7 E
Won't keep out the Lord's burning rain

[Verse 2]
     E B7 E A
The scientists say it'll all wash away
    E B7
But we don't believe it anymore
          E B7
'Cause we got our recruits
        E A
And our green mohair suits
   E B7 E
So please show your ID at the door

[Chorus]
    A B7 E
This old earthquake is gonna leave us in the poorhouse
    A E B7
It feels like this whole town's insane
       A B7 E A
On the thirty-first floor, a gold-plated door
      E B7 E
Won't keep out the Lord's burning rain

[Verse 3]
   E B7
A friend came around
         E A
Tried to clean up this town
    E B7
His ideas made some people mad
       E B7
But he trusted his crowd
       E A
And he spoke right out loud
    E B7 E
And they lost the best friend they had

[Chorus]
    A B7 E
This old earthquake is gonna leave us in the poorhouse
    A E B7
It feels like this whole town's insane
       A B7 E A
On the thirty-first floor, a gold-plated door
      E B7 E
Won't keep out the Lord's burning rain
