The Latency - Tonight, I Love You

Drop-D tuning, down 1 semi-tone

Notes: 1) For an easier "acoustic" version, just play in standard tuning.
          (still down a semi-tone).
       2) Obviously, this is just a rough-'n'-ready chord chart. I plan to post
a more detailed tab sheet when I get a bit of time.
       3) Cut and paste this file into your favourite word processing application
and set the whole text to 10- or 11-point MS Gothic for easy viewing.

** Intro **

G
It's a beautiful night and I'm opened up

Em
The look in your eyes says so much

C D
Nothing can touch us out here

G
Don't know where we are but I know I see

Em
A beautiful girl walking next to me

C D
I need to hold you, my dear

                Em D Cadd9
Let's just take tonight, tonight slow

                    Em D Cadd9
Cause I want to see where this, where this goes (I need you)

** Chorus 1 **

G D
I'd give you today but it's not mine yet

                                          Em
I'll ask you to stay here with me 'till then

                                  C D
I think I'm falling for you (falling for you, I need you)

G
I just want to look in your eyes and see

                                    Em
All that you have looking back at me

                               C D
I think tonight, I love you (I love you)

G
Tell me the chance hasn't passed us by

Em
Cause baby, the stars have never shined so bright

C D
Nothing can stop us out here

      Em D Cadd9
Let's just take tonight, tonight slow

                     Em D Cadd9
I want to see where this, where this goes (I need you)

I'll ask you to stay here with me 'till then

I think I'm falling for you (falling for you)

Em D

All that you have looking back at me

                                     C D

by looking at the chord diagrams given, is it correct to play it with a capo on the first fret?

@ cmarks38,

Unfortunately, the automatic chord diagrams at this site don't handle transpositions very well. It would be too complicated in just a few sentences to explain the technical source of the problem, so the short version of my advice to you is this.

The usual approach (the same approach used by tons of songbooks that frequently call for a capo) is to just play the standard chord shapes like the ones you'd find in any guitar book. In this case, if you've tuned your guitar down a semi-tone, the standard, open-position chord shapes will sound like the recording. I don't have time right now, but I can add some simple tab diagrams to show possible chord voicings for the drop-D tuning used by the band on this song.

Sorry for the confusion, but unless UG wants to tweak the site to permit "capo-style chords" the automatic diagrams will probably not accurately display chord voicings in non-standard tunings.
