"It's A Shame About Ray" -- Lemonheads.
Transcribed (heh) by Johnny Birchett

Easy song, but really good.

The chords are A, E, D, G, D/F#, and an F riff.

a D/F# is ----------- just in case some of you don't know.
          | | | | | |
          T | | 1 | 2
          | | | | 3 |
          T= thumb

The riff goes like this:

e|--------| Eight beats.

                     THE SONG
{First Verse:

A          E                  D
I've never been too good with names.

A          E              G             D/F#
The cellar door was open, I could never stay away.

A           E               D
I know it's probably not my place.

A           E             G            D/F#
It's either or I'm hopin' for a simple way of sayin'...

A      E           D
It's a shame about Ray.

A      E               G                D/F#
In the stone under the dust his name is still engraved.

A           E            D
Some things need to go away.

A      E           G            D/F#                 {riff}
It's a shame about Ray.

{Second Verse:

A    E                 D
If I make it through today,

A            E            G               D/F#
I'll know tomorrow not to put my feelings out on display.

A            E               D
I'll put the cobwebs back in place.

A          E                 G              D/F#
I've never been to good with names, but I remember faces.

{repeat chorus 'till you get bored}

No offence but the last line should be “too” not “to” (not a great musician but really fussy with grammar).
