Nice, not sure why this doesn't have 5 stars. If people are having problems with the chords, I think of the E11 as a D/E (D with E bass). The GM7add9 is probably just D/G.

Hi Timbo63,

Thank you.
I try to use musically correct nomenclature and I agree with the E11 being construed as D/E.
But a Gmaj7add9 can not be a D/G because there would be an A ringing and this is not the case when you pay a Gmaj7add9:

Gmaj7add9
e---2------
b---3------
G---0------
D---0------
A---2------
E---3------

Kind regards,
Aat

GMaj7add9 has an A in the chord...that's the "add9"
GBDF#A are the notes in that chord (it's technically a "GMaj9" chord...no need to notate the 7th, it's implied when you have an 9th in the chord....(or a chord without a 7th {F#} in the voicing, would be called a Gadd9 {GBDA}
a D6/G has the same notes in it GABDf#...I know it can be confusing, but there are Rules in Music theory that dictate the use of 1 chord name over the other even though they have the same notes in them... This site has a CHORD theory page on it>>>http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/chords/basic_chord_theory_iii.html
As All great chefs have must earn/master certain "recipes"....MUSICIANS Must strive to have some knowledge of Music Theory in their arsenal;-)
