Hey guys, the other tab was close but had some formatting issues and a few chords off, this should be more
accurate. For the C chord that starts off each verse, release the 2nd fret on the D string and play it open
before transitioning to the Em chord. And for that Em chord, alternate between Em and Em7.

Tuning: Half-Step Down

                   C Em
I'm digging up the bones of the failures I've buried
                   F G
I'm pulling out my white flags in various stages
                    Dm
The sun bleached in gray
                     Am
Gonna sew them all together
                    C7 F
Gonna fashion their bones into a frame
                   G
Tie the flags on a string
                               F
Stretched across until they're wings
        Fm
I'm no closer to heaven

C Em F C C/B Am G7

            C Em
I clipped a bird with my car on the freeway
               F
He won't see a burial
             G Dm
And all week long I kept thinking of death
                           Am
How me and Hemingway share forehead scars
                 C7 F
I won't meet the same fate that he did
                        G
In a world that I can't fix
                    F
With a hammer in my grip
         Fm
I'm no closer to heaven

Am Dm G
It feels like the day before something important
                  C C/B Am
It feels like the first snow of the season that sticks
              Dm G
It's how I'll always feel like a failure
                  F
In the back of my head
          Fm (rest)
No matter where I've been

                 C
The future feels bright
                Em
The glow of the city
               F
Out across the great plains
                  G
With the closer I get
                    Dm
The further I feel away
                       Am
I can stay here in the darkness
               C7 F
Feels like I'm wandering in circles for days
                   G
We never reach the gates
                     F
I'll keep walking anyway
         Fm C
I'm no closer to heaven

Looks like a nice tab, but the chords seem to be all written half a step up, seemingly to counter the half step down tuning. Is this just something Ultimate Guitar does on it's own, or is it something you did when you wrote the tab? If it was you, is there a reason for this? It seems to make the different tuning redundant.

If you play the chords as they should be (AKA not as written here) this is a really nice tab! That was my only question :)

Are you talking about the chord diagrams? Yeah thats a UG thing, not sure why it does that, it definitely makes it confusing. I guess it's thinking that since I said it was in half-step down, and I wrote chords in the key of C, that you should play it in the key of C in half-step tuning (so C# major key), but nah play in the key of C tuned down a half-step (so you're really playing in the key of B)

An ammmendment to the previous comment:

Ultimate Guitar is for some reason transposing the chords back up, just play them as normal and the song sounds fine!

For reference, play the C/B as

e -0-
B -1-
G -0-
D -2-
A -2-
E -x-

Great tab!
