Intro (listen for timing, but I'll do what I can to illustrate it here):

C--------

C--G--F----
C--G--C----
C--Am--G----

C--------

C--F----

C--------

G--F----

C F
Did they always ask you why you had to act so different?
   C
So very different from all the other children
G F
      What could you tell them?
C
When they went off to try to
                      F
Criticize you and chastise you
C
Baptize you and then lobotomize you
G F
Isn't it true, ooh ooh that special school

G F
Turned you into a reverent fool
G F
Tell papa and the reverend too
G F
That they are ignorant and you disapprove

C
They would like to
G F
Turn a subject into a citizen
C
They will make you
                F
A patient if you take their medicine
G F
They sell you shit to make you sick
G F
That shit I sell will make you well
G
Take two of these and break the great Satan's spell

C
  You know it's an emergency
                  F
They call it a perverted dream
C
I call it an emerging scene
  F G
I say, say, can't you see
C
  They came with their catechism
                   F
Calling it your condition
C
  I call that crass conditioning
G C G
  Oh, why ain't you listening?

                     F
Reveal your hidden heritage
G F
Collect your true inheritance
G F
A veritable treasure chest opening

C
They would like to
G F
Turn a child into a Christian
C
I've been living without a God
                            F G
And these Christians don't know what they're missing

Am
Visionary dreams
Ripping through the seams
     G C
When we gathered around the fire
    F
The devious and weak
     Am
Make insidious schemes
     G C
They want to water down the fire

         F
Which is always burning
         Am
Which is always burning
                G
There's witches always burning
C
Oh! The fire!

    Am
You know the type of guy
Who doesn't like the light
      G C
Don't want to stand beside the fire
   Am
He shackles up your feet
Pushes you to your knees
   G C
Forbids you to receive the fire

          F
But it is always burning
           Am
We keep it always burning
        G
Keep it always burning
C
Fire!

C--F----

C
Please, Believe me
            G
You gotta believe in a drum dream
C
Even if seeing the death of a dumb dream
F
  Makes a man mean
C G C
Mean, mean, real mean

C G F G C
    That what you've gotta be

Right key (E), misplaced chords. Main progression goes like:

G C (G) F
[F into G]

"Turned you into a reverent fool..." progression:

G Am (G) F
G Am (G) F
G Am (G) F
[F into G]

"You know the type of guy..." progression

Am7 Am Am7 Am [pause]
Am7 Am Am7 Am [pause]
Am7 Am Am7 Am [pause]

"Which is always burning..." progression is right, but it goes into the main progression at the end.

The G's in parentheses can be omitted to make it easier, but you're gonna want to play that F to G at the end whenever a progression is about to change. This is one of those songs that's easier to play correctly without a capo, unless your fingers are sufficiently fast.
