[Verse 1]
         C F C
You were crying in the night and I could hear you
        G F C
I could see your slender body shake and tremble
              C F C
and there was nothing I could think to say or do to make you see
               G F C
it's something wrong in me that makes me have to leave

[Chorus]
     Am C
what I would give to be quiet beside you
         Am C
with the window open, a record playing low
   Am C
to feel your skin between the clean bed linens
  G F C
inside a room where sadness never goes

[Verse 2]
        C F C
We were kissing in the kitchen, I was listening
       G F C
to the coffee and the bacon drip and sizzle
          C F C
there was flour on my hands from the biscuits in the pan
          G F C
and I was happier than I thought I could be

[Verse 3]
     C F C
Then I woke up on the road, my head was killing,
  G F C
remembering some shit I read in Milton
        C F C
how the mind is a place unto itself and in it
        C G F C
makes a heaven of hell and a hell of heaven

[Chorus]
     Am C
what I would give to be quiet beside you
         Am C
with the window open, a record playing low
   Am C
to feel your skin between the clean bed linens
  G F C
inside a room where sadness never goes

Hey, I love this song! Just a couple of things I noticed
Every third line of the verse is C-F-C-Am with a walk from C to Am, for example

C F C C C/B Am
There was flour on my hands from the biscuits in the pan

Also I think the chorus uses an F instead of Am, and in the third line of the chorus they use the Am after the C again
