For this song, I realize there is no bass part, so here's what I did:
 
For every chord of the song, play that note, but play it higher than
a typical root note.
 
For example, here are the notes I refer to:
     G       E       C        D
G|-------------------5--------7------------------------|
D|---5-------2-----------------------------------------|
A|-----------------------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------|
 
Play those in a pattern to go with the song and throw in the
occasional fill every now and then.  it's not hard, and it's a fun
way for bass players to enjoy a great song like this one.
