                             THOUGHT I KNEW - Weezer
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Nick (ilovemyepi)

This is off of Weezer's new self-titled album (aka The Red Album). It wasn't accepted
i first submitted it for no reason i think, as it should be fully mostly correct, but i'm
it again, this time with the lyrics added.

(EDIT: note about the bridge: In the Video where Weezer is playing Thought I Knew live
the studio, you can see Brian Bell play some sort of chord around the 4th fret of the E
I've checked if its a G# but it sounds kind of off. If anyone knows what this chord
please tell me. I know the bass is playing an E in the song but Brian is playing
different).

Intro: D A G

Verse 1 (sorry about my past life...)

D A G x2
D Bm G F#

Verse 2 (sorry about the pain)

D A G x2
D Bm G F#

Chorus (Thought I Knew you better than)

Bm A G D A G Bm
Em F#
Bm A G x2

Verse 3 (sorry about the harm)

D A G x2
D Bm G F#

Chorus (Thought i knew you better than)

Bm A G D A G Bm
Em F#
Bm A G x2

Bridge (now that our worlds gone dark)
B G E G F#
Bm A E G F#

Chorus (Thought i knew you better than)
Bm A G D A G Bm
Em F#m

and then repeat that all again
and do the post-chorus

Bm A G (but 4 times this time)

Thanks for reading. Hopefully it help you learn the song. Any questions, e-mail me.

Here's the lyrics:

sorry about my past life
i'm sorry but we just missed
sorry it had to end up like this

sorry about the pain
sorry i forgot your name
sorry but you left me out there in the rain

thought i knew you better then
thought i knew your intentions
thought i knew but didn't have a clue
not a single damn thing was true

sorry about the harm
sorry i'm no good luck charm
sorry you didn't end up in my arms

thought i knew you better then
thought i knew your intentions
thought i knew but didn't have a clue
not a single damn thing was true

now that our
worlds gone dark
we've drained the well
blew out the spark
now we're left with broken hearts
trying to find a new place to start

thought i knew you better then
thought i knew your intentions
thought i knew but didn't have a clue
not a single damn thing -

thought i knew you better then
thought i knew your intentions
thought i knew but didn't have a clue
not a single damn thing was true

The rhythm, especially for the chorus, are extremely hard to decipher. Matching lines of chords with lines of lyrics, or at least giving an indication as to how many bars to play the chord for would be very helpful. Thanks anyways.

I'm pretty sure the chord your talking about is something like a C#. I play it like...

Bm A G D
Thought I knew better than, thought I knew your intentions.
D/C# Bm D*
Thought I knew, but didn't have a clue.
Em F# D A G
Not a single damn thing was true.

The Bm, F#, and D* are all barred and everything else is open. The D/C# is open D chord and you use your pinky to play a C# bass. Hope this helps!

Nice job, but the chorus is off with a couple chords.

I hear it as:

Bm A G D G Bm

Em F#

Bm A G x2

Everything else is spot on!
